There's always a place on everyone's site where "the other stuff" lives.
\pruh-PING-kwih-tee\
noun:
1. Nearness in place; proximity.
2. Nearness in time.
3. Nearness of relation; kinship.
That stuff that doesn't have a home anywhere else: links, contact details, assorted miscellany. Some people cop out and just call it that: miscellany, ephemera or stuff.
My obsessive side wasn't happy with that. I'd already decided I wanted to split the site into 'personal' and 'professional' so the "everything else" section had to start with 'p' too.
That's when I happened upon 'propinquity' - the state of being near to something. What better word to use for a page where you will find all the ways of being near to me, and some of the people or things that I am (or have been) near to - assuming they haven't already been mentioned in other pages?
So here there's a list of links to sites I found useful, or that belong to friends, or for whatever reason I thought it would be good to link to.
There's a link to my blog. One of the best Christmas presents I received as a child was a 5-year diary. I wrote in that book every day of those five years, but when it was full I closed it and I pretty much haven't written a diary from that day to this apart from two abortive attempts to start again, each lasting no more than a couple of weeks. That's a distance of over thirty years. Maybe the accessibility of t'Internet will help me overcome my lethargy. I hope so.
The What's New section will keep you up-to-date with the current state of this site and any projects that don't have a natural home elsewhere on it.
Contact has a list of my contact details and the places I've been known to hang out on the net, and finally Acknowledgements is a list of people or places that helped me put this site together. It is coded exclusively in CSS - no tables! - and if you haven't tried that believe me it's a task. So thanks were due, and here they are.
